What on earth is DECIEM?

Known as “The Abnormal Beauty Company”, DECIEM is the parent company of The Ordinary, NIOD, Avestan, and other beauty brands, and is an industry disruptor with an innovation-focused approach. It was Co-Founded in 2013 by the late Brandon Truaxe, a visionary who set out to change the beauty industry through authenticity and transparency. He developed the company with creativity and innovation alongside Co-Founder and CEO, Nicola Kilner.

What we are looking for.

We are looking for a Social Communications Associate Manager who is experienced in managing celebrity relationships and talent.
This role can be based either out of our Toronto, New York, or London Offices

What you would be doing.

  • Support the manager on the amplification and engagement strategy to grow and nurture the community
  • Actively seek out and submit products and brands for calendar event goodie bags via talent agencies. Collate DECIEM’s social communications reports** (both activity + secured content), informing relevant team members + external partners
  • Execute brand tactics to continually increase engagement, traffic, and conversions. Responsible for overseeing the daily conversations amongst the community, outside of DECIEM’s owned channels, in both a proactive and reactive way
  • Responsible for seeking out and nurturing The Ordinary and NIOD community across all major social platforms
  • Inform in-app tactics for community growth, retention, and engagement. Responsible for highlighting, and sharing with relevant stakeholders, new social platforms of interest, including subcultures and forums. Continually keeping an eye on evolutions of platforms. Seek out and nurture grassroots communities
  • Manage the micro, macro, and major influencer communities, continually vetting contacts, fostering key relationships, and growing databases. Work with the Global social media team to identify unique UGC-led content per channel to aid audience growth and intrigue
  • Seek out and secure brand advocates via affiliation network, and ensure communities receive coherent communication for new launches and campaigns. Responsible for identifying and creating buzz around key calendar date moments with a focus on talent
  • Visit retail sites, monitor influencer events and launches as needed
  • Execution of key product seedings across the community networks
  • Oversee community tools including AWIN and Tribe Dynamics. Contribute to Global communications brainstorms to drive the business forward

What skills and qualifications do you need?

  • Understanding of the beauty industry and consumer sentiment
  • Proven reporting experiencing and presenting results to key stakeholders, experience within a similar role, Advanced user of all major social media platforms, understanding capabilities, and evolutions. A regular social media user with an understanding of the industry trends
  • Solid organisational and time management skills, detail-oriented, and ability to focus and work efficiently in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills both written and oral, and ability to work with all levels of staff and management. Open-minded and inclusive relishes the idea of communicating with beauty enthusiasts of all backgrounds, gender, and personal style
  • Relevant education OR equivalent work experience in Communications, Social Media, PR, or a similar is an asset
