Known as “The Abnormal Beauty Company”, DECIEM is the parent company of The Ordinary, NIOD, and other beauty brands & is an industry disruptor with a science first approach to innovation. DECIEM was Co-Founded in 2013 by the late Brandon Truaxe, a visionary who set out to change the beauty industry through authenticity and transparency. He developed DECIEM to be a happy family (of people and beauty brands), rooted in kindness, creativity, diversity, and respect, alongside Co-Founder and CEO, Nicola Kilner.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Director, Brand Voice – Global, who will be a key strategic leader within DECIEM’s Global Creative Design studio, establishing & leading a new Brand Voice department. You will oversee the evolution & formalization of the brand voice for The Ordinary, NIOD, and other DECIEM brands while also establishing the copywriting process for the organization. Day to day, you will work alongside Brand Managers, copywriters, Art Directors, videographers, photographers, and designers - partnering closely cross-functionally.

This is a hybrid role based out of our London office.

WHAT YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE

  • Establish brand voice guidelines for The Ordinary, NIOD, and other DECIEM brands – ensuring we remain consistent across every consumer touchpoint
  • Lead & mentor a team of copywriters - in-house and freelancers - to build a culture of writing at DECIEM that is collaborative, dynamic, and aligned with our values
  • Oversee copywriters in the delivery of quality writing for digital, OOH, retail, social, and other consumer-facing creative work
  • Lead the organization and management of internal & external copywriting resourcing in order to deliver on Global Brand needs
  • Define and optimize the copywriting approval process within the organization
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to lead training and company wide buy-in of our tone of voice
  • Partner with Creative and Brand leadership to articulate the vision of DECIEM brands, leveraging an understanding of our strategic priorities and translating it into engaging content
  • Oversee the creative review of copywriting outputs from the Brand Voice team, and ensure alignment with overall creative work from our Design team
  • Develop a process for copywriting within the broader Creative organization
  • Translate briefs and brand strategies into emotive stories that resonate with our target consumer
  • Stay current with what’s happening in the skincare, beauty, and consumer goods industry to maintain an understanding of DECIEM’s strategic position and how we remain unique
  • Oversee and evolve brand voice guidelines as needed on an annual basis
  • Present to DECIEM Senior Leadership as needed

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • Be a master storyteller
  • 7+ years experience in copywriting, brand narrative, or creative
  • Experience working in creative agencies, media publications, or in-house creative teams
  • Experience developing tone of voice for consumer-facing brands
  • Experience working as key piece/department within a larger Creative organization and understanding the skills needed to deliver best-in-class integrated work
  • Strong understanding of youth culture and digital communication
  • You are a strong collaborator and have experience working on global campaigns
  • Experience balancing multiple projects at one time, planning and managing your team’s schedule effectively
