Known as “The Abnormal Beauty Company”, DECIEM is the parent company of The Ordinary, NIOD, and other beauty brands & is an industry disruptor with a science first approach to innovation. DECIEM was Co-Founded in 2013 by the late Brandon Truaxe, a visionary who set out to change the beauty industry through authenticity and transparency. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Senior Copywriter & Editor – DECIEM, Global to join our DECIEM Design team and lead the establishment of campaign copy for our brand marketing campaigns – inclusive of campaign writing, product messaging, social, email, and other branded materials.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Toronto office.

WHAT YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE

  • Work alongside the Brand team in concepting and product positioning – focusing on DECIEM & NIOD
  • Establish copy and tone of voice guidelines for the business to create consistency across all departments
  • Establish a Copywriting center of excellence (including style guidelines, tone, etc.) for DECIEM brands, focusing on DECIEM and NIOD, in order to support brand and business.
  • Understand and communicate the DNA of DECIEM’s brands through copy on packaging, marketing, and all customer facing materials
  • Communicate to the wider copywriting team on any sufficient brand direction changes
  • Support copy development for DECIEM websites, aligning with the company’s voice
  • Review ongoing internal and external communication about our company and our brands
  • Absorb and communicate very detailed and complex chemistry as it relates to beauty
  • Perform other duties, as assigned, with agility and great attention to detail
  • Present ideas relevant to creative proposals to the VP Brand, Creative Director, Art Director & Head of Art & Design for approval and development.
  • Develop creative copy ideas and concepts, often in partnership with brands/creative design leaders.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • 5-7 years copywriting experience with some people management experience; product concepting and positioning experience is a must
  • Detail-oriented, able to spot errors, diligent and able to deliver to tight deadlines
  • Impeccable grammar and spelling, cheekiness, and a sense of humor with the ability to write in a range of “tones” from formal to playful and abnormal
  • Previous experience writing copy for social media, marketing materials, internal communications and customer facing content
  • Future thinking outlook with the ability to communicate complex issues through text
  • Knowledge of copy management systems
